With his 450 foot span, it is probably the bigger suspension bridge in the World.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Entrance

This bridge was built by George Grant Mackay in 1889 to access prime forest lands that he purchased and protected from logging.

The bridge was originally suspended on hemp rope. Today’s bridge uses 2″ steel cables capable of supporting two fully-loaded 747s.

Treetops Adventure, built in 2003, uses non-intrusive steel collars specially engineered to support platforms and bridges without harming the trees.

This was the best Vancouver’s natural wonder I visited, walking on the swaying planks at 230 feet above the Capilano Canyon, breathing the pure and cedar-scented rainforest air, each step creating a gentle wave on the bridge surface. The view over there is simply marvellous.

After crossing the bridge, we entered into another world, the beautiful forest of cedar, Douglas-fir and hemlock, where giant trees live for about 300 years.

We walked on a 650 foot long elevated treetops boardwalks bridges suspended between platforms that reach as high as 10 stories.

After visiting the bridge, we went to Vancouver to see the Torch.

We also saw the Steam Clock, that draws its power from an undergound steam system that heats many area buildings.

Designed by local “horologist” Raymond L. Sunders and erected in 1977, it hoots a version of the Westminster chimes every 15 minutes as steam vents from its top.

We saw also this young lady transporting people in a kind of Bike-cabe, something common in China, but very exotic here in Vancouver.

It was wonderful driving the buses at BC Transit, and all the drivers, dispachers and supervisors there was very friend and supportive,

but we have better work conditions tanks to our strong Union here at GRT, like 20 or 30 min. break every 5 1/2 hours (I had one of my shifts with 10 hours without break!!!).  or our payed 15 min. of pre-trip inspection.

I was surprised to met a lot of people there from Ontario, even from Kitchener and Cambridge. I even met a group of 5 people from Brazil, they lend me a Brazilian flag to take this picture.

I tank you all here for you kind support and cheering for our sucsses in driving at the Olympics.

Now it is time to come back home.

We also cerebrate Des Fitzgerald birthday (he is just in his twenties!).

Krys, Debbie (now I don’t forget your name), and the other lady (Chris I guess) are a figure out of this world.

It was so good to be with these fellow “amigos”. I’ll keep this moments and this memories for ever in my life.

It was an amazing exhilaration extreme experience. 

Our adventure lasted for about 3 1/2 hours. We took a gondola up to the 1st. stage, from there we cathed a “tractor tipe” snow vehicle to the last stage.

From that point we just walked in an amazinh scenario thought traks and suspention bridges in the woods, hight above the ground.

Then we feel the breathtaking freedom experience of hanging thought 4 ziplines whit extension from 200 to 2000 feet (600 metres), reaching speeds up to 80 km/h. It was like flying up to 200 feet (60 m.) over the Creek. 

We walked over rivers and valleys below in 4 treetop suspension bridges and stopped in observation platforms up to 150 feet (50 m.) in the forest canopy.

It was super fun, pure adrenaline!

Both mountains’ expansive and unique high alpine terrain offered us a spectacular sightseeing experience, surrounded by panoramic mountain views!
